With 15 years of experience as a journalist, Lisa D. DeNeal is currently a correspondent and weekly columnist for the Post Tribune newspaper.
A native of Gary, Indiana, DeNeal is an alumnus of Theodore Roosevelt High School and Calumet College of Saint Joseph. She got her start in journalism as a staff writer for The Gary Crusader, a weekly African American newspaper. She is also a former contributing writer for Port of Harlem magazine based out of Washington, D.C. Her career allows her the opportunity to report and write positive and endearing stories about people, places and events in her hometown, as well as interview various celebrities - Bestselling authors Ernest J. Gaines, Michael Eric Dyson, activist Angela Davis, actors Ruby Dee and the late Ossie Davis and more.
DeNeal is the daughter of Robert and the late Ada DeNeal and the youngest of four children.
UPDATE: Since the publishing of "Unflappable" in 2008, DeNeal has completed co-authoring her second book, "The Panthers Club" scheduled for release in December 2011 and is also a freelance writer for Kiwanis magazine.
